Arvada Basement Fire

At 20:21 on February 19th, 2019 Arvada Fire Protection District was dispatched to a structure fire in the area of 8600 Yucca St. in Leyden. JeffCom reporting that RP reported smoke coming in through the vents in the house. Engine 57 was first on scene and found nothing showing on the initial approach. After a 360 search of the building, the building was found to be full of smoke and Engine 57 established their own water supply on a hydrant and pulled an 1 ¾ line for initial attack. Engine 58 arrived on scene and pulled a second 1 ¾ line for search and rescue fire control. All occupants were then reported to be out of the residence. Battalion 52 arrived on scene and assumed command. Engine 57 located the fire source in the basement on the Charlie-Delta corner and applied water. Engine 58 and Tower 56 assisted Engine 57 with extinguishing the fire. Tower 56 began ventilation with the help of Engine 53 on the alpha side. At 20:48 the fire was declared under control with no reported injuries. Crews worked an extensive overhaul and the fire cause is under investigation.
