Crews from Castle Rock Fire Rescue completed 3 Days of Ice Rescue Training at the Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course Lake above Station 154 on January 16th, 2019. 3 certified instructors hosted the training to all crews who rotated through from 08:00 hours until approximately 15:00 hours. Engine 153 and Medic 154 were last crews to rotate through. Crews simulated submerged unconscious victims and rescued actively distressed victims from the ice. Call volume allowed for crews to spend appropriate time refreshing. Rescue 154 serves as the district wide specialty rescue unit and would be due on the ice rescue. The nearest dive team is South Metro Fire Rescue which requires CRFD have quick response times as victims have limited amount of time before they become hypothermic.
