Firefighter Ken Jones of Summit Fire & EMS Authority memorial service was held on December 13th, 2019 at the Waterside Community Church in Littleton. Hundreds of firefighters from across Colorado and the country came out to honored Jones with a large procession the with over four-dozen emergency vehicles, wound its way from Horan & McConaty on Wadsworth Blvd. in Lakewood, past Bear Creek Lake Park, to the Waterstone Community Church in Littleton for a private service that included a bell ceremony, flag folding, last radio call, and the firefighter’s prayer. Jones fell to his death when he was on the roof of the five-story condo fire in Copper Mountain on December 7th, 2019, he was battling a fire and went to the roof and fell off the roof. Jones, was 46 years-old, leaves behind a wife and two children. Jones was a 20-year veteran in the fire service, starting with Lake Dillon Fire Rescue before merging with Copper Mountain Fire Department to form the Summit Fire & EMS on January 1st, 2018. This was the departments first line of duty death. On December 8th, 2019 a Jones was transported from Summit County to Boulder County and has been on a honor watch since.
