Arvada Porch Fire

At 15:38 on October 17, 2019 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure in the 18100 block on W 84th Pl. in Leyden. Dispatched advised that 911 caller reporting that the back porch is on fire. Engine 57 & Battalion 52 arrived to a two-story medium size residential structure with nothing showing with evacuations, and Battalion 52 in command. Crews found a wooden planter had caught fire on a backyard porch, which was caused by a cigarette, that had been put out in a flower box that had dry potting soil in it. Luckily the owner was home and found the fire before it spread to the home. Another reminder to keep cigarette butts out of planters. The fire was put out quickly with no injuries reported, and the rest of the alarm was cancelled. Additional information provided by Arvada Fire Protection District.
