Around 02:34 on July 26th, 2019 Loveland Emergency Communications Center (LECC) dispatched Loveland Fire Rescue Authority to a haystack fire in the 2800 block of East Larimer County Rd. 30 & County Rd. 9. Upon arrival Engine 6 reported a large stack of large “one ton” bales on fire with two loaders belonging to the property owner working on removing unburned bales from the stack to prevent extension to the remaining bales on the property. Battalion 1 took command, requested an additional Loveland water tender, and a mutual aid tender from Poudre Fire Authority. A pair of drop tanks were set up in a double diamond for water supply to Engine 6. The loaders were effective in isolating the bales involved in fire from the unburned bales and then the loaders started breaking up the burning bales and spread them out. Crews remained on scene until well after day break and allowed the remaining hay to burn. Poudre Fire also assisted with an Engine to cover LFRA Station 5.
