2nd Alarm Apartment Fire
At 23:42 on May 30th, 2019 Denver Fire Department was dispatched to a fire investigation with a possible fire in the closet in the 1500 block of N. Grant St. in North Capital Hill. While en route dispatch upgraded the call to a multi-family structure fire. Truck 8 arrived to 5-story apartment building with a working fire. Engine 8 secured a water supply at Colfax Ave. & Grant St. and laid in a 3″ supply line to the middle of the building on the Alpha side. Chief 2 arrived and assumed command with heavy fire showing from the 3rd floor window, and requested a second alarm. Engine 8 pulled a 1 ¾” handline through the stairway door on the Alpha side, through the middle of the building to the third floor. Tower 1 set-up on the Alpha side, Engine 1 secured a water supply to Engine 8, and Engine 3 laid in from a separate hydrant to the alley. Engine 6 arrived and assigned as RIT. Crews were able to get the fire out and under control. Three patients were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and several others were treated on scene and released. The fire was contained to the room of origin and both the primary and secondary searches were reported clear and negative. Additional information provided by Denver Fire Department
