South Metro Chesapeake Lane House Fire

At 16:20 on September 25th, 2019 MetCom alerted South Metro Fire Rescue to a working residential fire in the 2200 block of Chesapeake Lane in Highlands Ranch. Neighbors called 911 reporting big flames coming from the back of the garage of the home. When crews arrived on scene they found heavy fire conditions on the exterior of the garage and reported the fire had grown to the second story of the home and was burning inside the structure. Firefighters stretched 1 3/4” hose line to the back of the house for fire attack and searched the home for occupants. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire and firefighters reported a cat was inside a room of the house that was protected from the fire. Firefighters used hose lines to put out additional hot spots, monitored fire extension to the roof line and ventilated the home. The fire was marked as under control at 17:00. No injuries to report from this fire. The cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
