West Metro House Fire

At 08:54 on September 20th, 2019 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a confirmed house fire in the 600 block of S. Quail St. in Lakewood. Engine 4 arrived to a 2-story single family residential structure with heavy black smoke showing from Division 2 Charlie side, and smoke showing from the Alpha side eves. Engine 4 layed in a 2 1/2 from W. Central Ave. & S. Quail St, and pulled  a attack line to the Charlie side in the offensive strategy. Engine 6 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 4. Tower 2 arrived and started primary search with a attack line, District 1 arrived and assumed command with life safety, and Medic 7 assigned with medical on the Alpha side. Engine 1 secured a 2nd water supply, and advised of a roof collapse on the Bravo side with heavy smoke and fire through the roof. Engine 1 pulled an attack line to the attic with Tower 8. Tower 2 completed the primary search and rescued one family dog from inside the house. Crews got the fire under control at 09:33 and started an extensive overhaul. The fire caused extensive damage to the upper floor and roof, and the family has been displaced. Lakewood Police and Animal Control found two dogs in the garage area. The cause of the fire is under investigation with no injuries reported. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue.
