Westminster Second Alarm

Approximately 15:54 on June 30th, 2019 Westminster Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 2700 block of W. 111 Loop at Clay St. in the Legacy Ridge area. Westminster Communications Center advised units en route that 911 callers reporting a possible second house on fire. Westminster Police Department arrived first on scene to a fully involved house fire with flames threatening a second house. Engine 4 arrived to a two-story single family structure with heavy fire from the garage, secured their own water supply with 400′ of 5″ hose, and pulled 1 3/4″ line for fire attack. Truck 6 arrived and set up their stick for fire master stream operations in the defensive strategy. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and assumed command, and assigned Engine 1 to pulled a second line off Engine 4. Engine 2 arrived and assisted with fire attack, and advised command that the gable collapsed on the Delta side, and Medic 2 set-up for rehab. Command requested 2 additional engines and one medic to the scene. Mutual Aid was called in from North Metro Fire Rescue District and Thornton Fire Department. Medic 6 assisted Medic 2 with rehab operations. The fire was put under control around 16:30, and crews worked an extended time with hot spots and overhaul. All occupants were able to safely evacuate the house. The cause is under investigation. The fire also happened on the day of Lt. Tracy Haze’s final working day, he served as a firefighter for the City of Westminster for 34 years.
