West Metro Outbuilding Fire

At 20:12 on January 5th, 2018 JeffCom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a possible structure fire in the area of W. 29th Ave. & Lamar St. in Wheat Ridge with 911 callers reporting flames showing. Engine 1 arrived to a small single family structure with a working fire in the back of the structure, possibly an outbuilding, pulled a 1 3/4 line in the offensive strategy for primary search and fire control. Medic 1 assisted Engine 1 with securing the water supply to Engine 1, and Engine 16 arrived and pulled a 2nd 1 3/4 line in for fire attack. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side with a working shed fire in the back of 6400 block of W. 29th Ave. and Medic 5 was assigned as medical. Engine 16 and Engine 2 reporting that a possible victim may be trapped in the basement of the structure and started a primary search, which proved negative and an all-clear with no parties trapped. Wheat Ridge Police Department arrived and shut down W. 29th Ave. for fire operations. The fire was put under control at 20:27 with crews started overhaul and the fire was out with units clearing at 20:42. No reported injuries and the fire is under investigation.
