Arvada Defensive Fire
At 10:27 on December 3rd, 2020 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 11400 block of 77th Dr. in the Oak Park neighborhood. Jeffcom advised that an explosion in the garage and fire spreading into the house. Engine 53 advised smoke in the air from Station 56. Engine 57 arrived to a fully involved two-story residential with a working fire, and pulled a line in for primary search, rescue and fire control in the offensive strategy with Engine 55. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command, and due to heavy fire conditions the fire was changed from offensive to defensive ops. Engine 53 established the water supply to Engine 57, and Engine 58 secured a 2nd water supply to Tower 56. Firefighters rescued one occupant from the fire and Medic 52 transported the patient to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Truck 54 started aerial ops, and Command requested additional medic and move-up the ghost engine to the scene. Crews got fire under control and started an extended overhaul and investigation.
