On July 22nd, 2020 around 14:45 Pueblo County Sheriff Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) Fire Team was dispatched to a reported brush fire on open ranch land approximately 6 miles east of Cedarwood and north of highway 10. The fire was detected by Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control MMA flying the area after a lightning storm the day prior. They alerted the Pueblo Interagency Dispatch who notified Pueblo 911 Communications Center dispatch so they could start an initial attack response. While en-route the Cañon Helitack team was requested after being used earlier in the day during a search and rescue mission on the greenhorn mountain. They were also requested due to the fires remote location and extended response time needed to get to it. Crews arrived on scene about 45 minutes after the Helitack crew began water drops. Crews were unable to get down from the top of the canyon to the fire so the helicopter continued its drops while its crew made its way up from the bottom to help coordinate the drops. Units were on scene several hours making sure the fire stayed contained and coordinating drops. For more on the first fire from June 26th, 2020, go here: Bar Nothing Fire.
