Clifton Structure Fire

At approximately 13:45 on July 5th, 2020 Clifton Fire Protection District was dispatched by Grand Junction Regional Communication Center (GJRCC) to a working residential structure fire on Cheshire Ct. in Pear Park. Chief 21 arrived to a two story single family structure with a working fire on alpha side, establishing command. Engine 21 arrived and pulled two 1 3/4” cross lays for fire attack. A 2 1/2 supply line was brought in from the corner of Cheshire and Wedgewood. Grand Junction Fire Department was requested for mutual-aid for fire attack and medical. Dispatch reported the fire had started due to fire works however the official cause is under investigation. The home suffered serious damage to the exterior and significant damage to attic. No injuries were reported. The family was displaced by the fire. This incident is an example of how dry the fuels are within Mesa County. The county is under a Stage 1 Fire Ban, prohibiting the use of personal fireworks.
