Curtis Park Apartment Fire

At 18:47 on January 11th, 2020 Denver Fire Department Engine 3 responded to a class 1 alarm at 2770 California St. in Curtis Park. Engine 3 arrived and found smoke showing and requested a full group response at 18:51. Engine 3 pulled a 1 3/4 line in and connected to a standpipe. Chief 2 arrived and took over command on the Alpha side, and assigned Truck 4 with Rescue 1 to division 2. Engine 8 arrived and laid in from 27th St. & California St. and then pulled a back-up line in and assisted Engine 3 with fire attack. Tower 9 arrived and started a primary search and Engine 10 stretched a line to division 3. Crews were able to get control of the fire on the 2nd floor with the aid of the buildings sprinkler system and all searches proved negative. The fire cause is under investigation and one patient was reported to be transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Additional information provided by Denver Fire Department.
