Denver Apartment Fire

At 07:27 on September 3rd, 2020 Denver Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 1160 block of N. Washington St. in Capital Hill. Engine 8 arrived to heavy fire and smoke showing from the Charlie side back porch of an apartment building, laid in from E. 12th Ave. & Washington St. Engine 1 established Engine 8’s water supply. Chief 4 arrived and assumed command, and assigned Truck 4 and Engine 3 to assist Engine 8 on the Charlie side with fire attack, and Rescue 1 with primary search. Crews reported possible power lines down in the back, and Xcel was requested. Command also requested additional Truck & Engine to the scene. Tower 1 went to the roof, Engine 1 pulled a line to assist with fire attack, and Command requested a 2nd alarm. Engine 11 arrived and established a water supply on the Alpha side, pulled a line to the Bravo exposure. Firefighters got the fire quickly contained and started overhaul on hot spots.
