Grand Junction Structure Fire
At 17:59 on September 3rd, 2020 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 600 block of Hudson Bay Dr. with a full structure compliment. Battalion 1 arrived at 17:54 to a medium size, single story, single family residence with a working fire in the garage and established Hudson Bay Command with a command staff notification. Engine 2 arrived within minutes of alarm and positioned for fire attack in the defensive mode. Ambulance 2 followed in to catch the hydrant with 5” LDH while Engine 4 pulled in behind Engine 2 to assist with the primary search. Engine 3 was next in, staging on Patterson with personnel walking in. Truck 1 arrived and staged along Patterson. Engine 3 was assigned exposure protection on the Delta side. Engine 2 reported knockdown of the main body of fire in the garage while reporting fire in the attic. Command requested a second ambulance for transport with A2 unable to get out due to LDH. The primary search proved negative and utilities were being secured. Crews got the Delta side involvement knocked down and Engine 4 reported attic involvement from the main part of the structure. Command reported flames through the roof above the garage. The fire was under control at 18:35. The extent of damage within the residence is unknown but the fire appeared to mainly involve the attic, garage, and Delta side. The fire is under investigation, one person was evaluated by EMS, and a firefighter was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for unknown injuries.
