Residential Structure Fire
On December 8th, 2020 at 21:06 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched for a reported residential structure fire in the area of 2800 C ½ Rd. Neighbors called reporting smoke and flames from an abandoned structure down the road. Engine 4 was first-in, sizing up a single-story, single-family structure with a basement and a working fire on the Charlie side. Engine 4 encountered water supply issues with an 800 ft. LDH lay to the fire. Tender 5 was dispatched for rural water supply. Engine 4 established C ½ command in the defensive strategy, and pulled a cross-lay for fire attack. Engine 1 was second in an assisted with attack. Ambulance 1 arrived and staged west. Truck 6 arrived and was assigned utilities. Engine 3 was assigned fire attack. With negative utilities and an unoccupied structure, all companies were assigned to fire attack. Crews continued exposing walls and chasing fire through the attic, walls, and inside of the home. All companies had been released and the fire was declared out by 00:15. No injuries were reported and due to the circumstances, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
