West Metro Structure Fire

At 04:00 on January 27th, 2020 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 7300 block of W. Grant Ranch Blvd. in Lakewood. Engine 12 arrived to a large two-story multi-family dwelling with a working fire from the second floor apartment on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy, Engine 12 pulled 1 3/4 line in for fast attack. Rescue 10 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 12, and assisted with the hose line to the second floor. Engine 8 arrived and assisted with fire attack on the Alpha side, District 2 arrived and took over command and assigned SAM 2 as safety. South Metro Engine 13 arrived and assigned to salvage on the below apartment and Medic 13 as medic group. Tower 8 ladder the roof, and Truck 14 as RIT. Crews got the fire under control quickly and started an extensive overhaul. West Metro investigator reported that the fire started on the deck of a second story unit and was caused by smoking materials. The fire got up into the attic, causing moderate damage to the entire upper floor of the building. Units on the second and first floor had smoke and water damage.
