On May 30th, 2020 Loveland Fire Rescue Authority worked a small wildland west of the Sylvan Dale Ranch near the Big Thompson Canyon. Crews contained the fire to a half-acre the burned in heavy timber just west of Sultzer Gulch in the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest. Crews had to hike up about a mile and a 650′ climb to get to the fire. A Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control SEAT (Single Engine Air Tanker) on contract from CO Fire Aviation and a Type 1 helicopter from Billings Flying Service on contract to the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests were requested to fight the fire from the air. The fire was believed to be from a lightning strike and no structures were threatened. Additional information was provided by Loveland Fire Rescue Authority
