Lakewood House Fire

At 12:38 on March 16th, 2020 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of S. Simms St. in Glennon Heights. JeffCom advised of multiple callers advising of flames and smoke above the garage area. Engine 4 advised of flames showing from Station 4. Engine 4 arrived on scene to a two-story medium side single-story with heavy flames showing from the Bravo side, and pulled a 1 3/4 line in the offensive mode to the Bravo side for fire attack. Medic 4 pulled a 2nd line to the Bravo side and assisted Engine 4 with fire attack. Engine 3 arrived and established the water supply to Engine 4, and District 2 arrived and took over command on the Alpha-Bravo side. Engine 2 pulled a 3rd line off Engine 4 to the Alpha front door for primary search and check for extension in the attic. Tower 8 put up their stick for scene lighting and access the attic through a gable vent on the Charlie side and found heavy smoke with no fire. Engine 3 secured the utilities, Medic 3 assigned as medical group, Engine 6 as RIT and SAM 2 as Safety. Engine 2 found active fire in the attic on the Alpha-Bravo corner and Tower 2 assisted Engine 2 with fire attack. Engine 3 pulled a 1 3/4 line off their engine to assist crews with fire attack in the attic, and secured their own water supply. Crews got the fire out and started an extensive overhaul. One person was home at the time the fire was reported, and was able to get out. The house is a total loss, and the cause of the fire and origin are under investigation.
