At 10:20 on April 19th, 2020 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a reported garage fire in the 5500 block of S. Zang St. in Alkire Acres. JeffCom advised units en-route that 911 caller reporting smoke coming from the garage. Engine 13 arrived to a two-story single-family home with heavy black smoke from the garage, and started fast attack mode with 1 3/4 preconnect in the offensive strategy with Medic 13. Engine 12 established the water supply to Engine 13, Medic 12 started primary search and District 3 arrived and assumed command in the Alpha-Delta corner. The fire was contained to the garage. West Metro investigator determined that the fire was started by a power cord for a small kiln that overheated to the point that it ignited combustibles around the kiln. There were no injuries.
