Wheat Ridge Hotel Fire

At 05:31 on September 6th, 2020 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a commercial fire alarm at the American Motel, 10101 I-70 Frontage Rd. N. in Wheat Ridge. Rescue 52 arrived to a large five-story motel and started the investigation. Rescue 52 crew found smoke on the 2nd floor and the incident was upgraded to a full structure response. Wheat Ridge Police officers secured and clear the building. Medic 51 arrived and assigned as medical, and Engine 17 assisted with ventilation. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Truck 54 checked the 3rd, 4th & 5th floors for conditions, which all checked clear with only light smoke. Crews found a room & contents fire which was quickly extinguished, and crews started overhaul. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
