Water Rescue Recovery

On May 22nd, 2021 at 15:03 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a missing person in the water at the Bear Creek Lake Park, 14550 Morrison Rd. in Lakewood. Engine 9 arrived and advised that a report of a paddle boarder under the water in Big Soda Lake. Divers conducted underwater pattern searches where witnesses last saw the victim. South Metro Fire Rescue was requested to assist with sonar search, and West Metro drone searched from the air. Divers continued the search into the evening, and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Marine Evidence Recovery Team took over the search. The body of the victim was discovered overnight by using a towfish sonar unit and recovered by the ROV (remotely operated vehicle). Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
