Franktown Vegetation Fire

On September 6th, 2021 at approximately 13:00 Franktown Fire Protection District and South Metro Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported vegetation fire at 4391 Carefree Trail. The reporting party indicated that the flames were about two feet tall in sagebrush about 80 feet from the residence. A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene first and was able to slow the fire with the extinguisher from his patrol vehicle. Brush 181 arrived on scene shortly thereafter and put out the rest of the fire fairly quickly. Units were on scene about thirty minutes mopping up hot spots. No injuries were reported no damage was done to the residence. Firefighters believe the fire may have started with a solar light installed along the side of the driveway.
