Wildland Training Exercise

The Grand County Training Officers Association (GCTOA) conducted a wildland based training scenario on May 15th, 2021, along Highway 40 near the west end of Byers Canyon. Crews worked on initial fire attack, digging fire lines, evacuating an injured firefighter and establishing a water supply from the Colorado River. The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, East Grand Fire Protection District, Grand County Sheriff’s Fire Management, Grand County EMS, Grand Fire Protection District, Grand Lake Fire Protection District, Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire Protection District, Kremmling Fire Protection District and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management participated in the training.
