West Metro Attic Fire

At 15:17 on January 15th, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto aid from Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible residential structure fire in the 14000 block of Crabapple Place in Applewood West. Engine 5 arrived to a one-story single-family residential with fire and smoke showing from the Charlie side, pulled a line in for fire control and primary search. Engine 17 secured the water supply at Eldridge St. and Berry Rd. and Engine 6 pulled a line to the roof. Crews found a swamp cooler on the roof with fire, and Tower 2 found fire extending into the attic space which caused a partial collapse from the roof and crews were pulled off the roof. District 1 arrived on assumed command on the Alpha-Bravo corner. Medic 52 arrived and assigned as medical, and SAM 1 as safety officer. Crews got the fire under control and started overhaul. No injuries and the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction. Additional information was provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
