Lakewood Dry Gulch Vegetation Fire
West Metro Brush Fire
At 16:19 on September 5th, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to possible outside fire investigation in the area of the Light Rail Sheridan Station off W. 12th Ave. in Lakewood. JeffCom advised 911 caller reporting that a grass fire burning south of the light rail tracks between Harlan St. and Depew St. in the Lakewood Dry Gulch. Engine 3 arrived in the area to a brush fire burning down into the gulch area and pulled an attack line on tank water, and requested additional units to the scene for a working brush fire. Engine 2 arrived and assisted Engine 3 with fire attack. Denver Engine 20 was also alerted to the fire in the area, and assisted Engine 1 at W. 13th Ave. & Depew St with fire ops. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy assigned two divisions: North Division with Engine 1, Engine 16 & Engine 20, and South Division with Engine 3, Engine 2, Engine 6 & Brush 6. Medic 11 arrived and assigned to medical group at W. 11th Ave. & Depew St. Crews worked fire attack from the southside and got the fire under control at 17:02.
