Larimer County Wildland Fire
2nd Alarm Wildland Fire
At approximately 06:11 on December 22nd, 2021 Loveland Fire Rescue Authority was dispatched by Loveland Emergency Communications Center (LECC) to a Grass / Wildland Fire near the Big Thompson River between County Rd. 9E and Boise Ave. in unincorporated Larimer County. The first arriving engine reported a large wind-driven fire with one residential structure immediately threatened. A second alarm was initiated bringing additional resources from Berthoud Fire Protection District, Front Range Fire Rescue, Poudre Fire Authority, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, and Thompson Valley EMS to the scene. Crews were able to contain the approximately 10-acre fire and stayed on scene for several hours working on hot spots and mop up. One small outbuilding was destroyed by fire. LFRA appreciated the assistance from their mutual aid response partners along with Kauffman Gravel and Coulson Excavating. Extremely dry and windy conditions played a role in the rapid fire growth that was experienced with this fire. Additional information was provided by Loveland Fire Rescue Authority.
