Logan County Haystack Fire

On October 28th, 2021 at approximately 13:30 Merino Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a haystack fire on Rd. 6. Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Engine 3141 was quick to respond and help out as well as mutual-aid requested from Sterling Fire Department. When units arrived on scene they discovered roughly 600 bales burning. Units remained on scene for several hours to ensure the fire did not spread to surrounding bales or structures. Smoke and flames will likely be visible for the next 5 days as they continue to smolder.
