South Metro Plane Crash

On June 16th, 2021 at 13:45 South Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a aircraft emergency at S. Peoria St. & Ridgegate Parkway in Lone Tree. Red 3 advised of smoke in air and the crash is off the Centennial Airport property, and District Chief 1 upgraded the incident to a confirmed plane crash and to start a brush truck for a brush fire. District Chief 1 arrived and assumed command, with one plane into the side of the mountain with active fire spreading and power lines down. Red 3 arrived and started fire attack and Brush 17 worked fire control with the brush fire. Two occupants and one dog were found dead in the crash. The plane was a Lancair Evolution single-engine turboprop, and was approaching Centennial Airport when it hit electrical lines and went down, and air resources were requested to soak the area. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
