Lower Valley Mobile Home Fire

 

At 15:52 on August 10th, 2021 Lower Valley Fire District was dispatched for a reported residential structure fire in the 2000 block of 16 Rd. Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received callers reporting a house starting to catch fire and visible smoke and flames. The homeowner reported the house to be involved with flames and was trapped in the back yard with reports of propane tanks underneath the house as well. Chief 31 arrived on scene to a double-wide mobile home with a working fire, fully involved, and established 16 Road Command. Engine 32 arrived on scene and pulled a 2 ½” attack line for exposure protection on the Bravo side and as Engine 31 arrived on the scene, a 1 3/4” line was pulled for fire attack with Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control RTO 43 assisting. Ambulance 31 arrived on scene and staged as medical group while Tender 31 supplied Engine 32 with water. A drop tank was established to provide a constant water supply. Tender 32 arrived on scene and began shuttling operations for water supply with Tender 31. The majority of the fire was knocked down by 16:30 while crews still exposed hot spots and dealt with propane tanks beneath the house. No injuries were reported, and all occupants were accounted for. The tenders completed 5 shuttles and approximately 20,000 gallons water was dumped into the structure. A command staff notification was sent out for additional personnel to man the city while the incident took place.
