West Metro 2nd Alarm
On December 19th, 2021 at 03:05 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a possible structure fire in the 7600 block of Jared Way in the Roxborough Village. Jeffcom advised that the back of the house fully involved possibly spreading to the next door house with high winds in the area. Engine 15 arrived to a two-story house almost completely involved and started fire attack, and Medic 15 secured the water supply. Engine 15 requested a 2nd alarm with a second house on fire. Crews worked a heavy wind driven fire and with a 3rd house that started on fire, and evacuations in the neighborhood with help from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. Engine 13 arrived and secured their own water supply, and started fire attack, and Engine 12 assisted Engine 15 with fire attack. District 3 arrived and assumed the command with 3 two-story homes on fire in the defensive strategy with several attack lines and setting up 3 water supplies. Truck 14 started defensive attack with master stream ops. About a dozen homes on the block were evacuated, as a dense ember shower fell on nearby structures. Those families were sent to shelter at the Roxborough Elementary School. Crews got the fire under control at 04:27 and worked on hot spots and overhaul for an extended time with extensive damage.
