Westminster 2nd Alarm
On May 17th, 2021 just as B Shift was about to end around 06:00, the Westminster Fire Department with auto-aid from Adams County Fire Rescue to a confirmed apartment fire in the 6900 block of Stuart St. at the Edgewood Apartments. Engine 1 reported smoke upon leaving Station 1 and arrived on scene to a three-story garden level structure with heavy fire conditions from the 2nd and 3rd floors, and a second alarm was struck. Engine 1 secured their own water supply and pulled a 2 1/2 inch hose line for operations in the offensive strategy on the Alpha side with Medic 1. Engine 2 assisted with fire control, Truck 2 started primary search and Medic 2 set up for rehab. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command and assigned Engine 12 to pull a high rise pack off Engine 1 for interior firefighting operations. Engine 3 arrived and secured a second water supply, and the fire was put under control at 06:34. The 2nd alarm units staged along W. 72nd Ave. Multiple apartment units were damaged with several families displaced, as well of reports of missing pets, and the American Red Cross was requested to the scene. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
