West 44th Ave Structure Fire

Around 21:30 on December 22nd, 2021 Arvada Fire Protection District with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue and Fairmount Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 11220 block of W. 44th Ave. in Wheat Ridge. Engine 17 arrived to a working fire from a detached building behind the residence, pulled a 1 3/4 for offensive exterior attack with Medic 55 and Medic 54. Engine 16 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 17. Tower 2 arrived and set-up on the Alpha side, and pulled a 2nd line off Engine 17 for fire attack with Engine 16. Battalion 30 arrived and assumed command, and assigned Rescue 52 as RIT. Crews were able to rescue one victim inside, and the patient was transported by Medic 54 to a local hospital with unknown injuries. With heavy fire and dangerous conditions inside the operations went defensive. The fire was put under control around 22:30 and firefighters started overhaul.
