Aurora Hazmat Response

On November 14th, 2022 at approximately 09:10 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a hazardous materials incident at Empower Community High School, 450 S. Chambers Rd. Firefighters arrived on scene and found that fumes from a chemical were permeating parts of the building. The Department’s hazardous materials team neutralized the hazard while other firefighters ventilated the building. Officials believe the incident occurred due to vandalism in the science lab. No injuries were reported and Aurora Police are investigating the vandalism.
