The first Estes Park 9/11 Memorial with a 5K and Stair Climb was held on September 11th, 2022 at the Estes Park Visitor Center and parking garage. Participants gathered together to remember and honor those who were lost on September 11th, 2001 by climbing the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Estes Valley Fire Protection District volunteer Scott Manning told the story of his firefighter brother, Stephen Gerard Siller, who lost his life on September 11th, 2001 in New York City. Proceeds from this event will support the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. Estes Valley Fire Protection District, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Allenspark Fire Protection District, Glen Haven Area Volunteer Fire Department, Estes Park Police Department, Estes Park EMS and others also participated in the event.
