Estes Park Chimney Fire

At 19:52 on February 27th, 2022 Estes Park Emergency Communications Center (700) dispatched Estes Valley Fire Protection District to 1643 Black Squirrel Dr. in Estes Park for a reported chimney fire. Battalion Chief 71 arrived to find fire extending through the wall and ceiling. Engine 71 arrived, stretched a 3″ alley load to get up to the house, and made an interior attack with a 1 3/4 hose. Tender 72 established the water supply into Engine 71. The crew stretched a backup line. Engine 71 completed a primary search of the structure. Engine 71 and Tender 72 began overhaul. Tender 71 was enroute but was unable to reach the scene due to poor road conditions. The crew was transported to scene to support operations. Allenspark Fire Protection District was requested to support water supply operations. Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District Engine 5101 backfilled the station in town. EVFPD completed the investigation and determined the fire to be unintentional. Additional information provided by Estes Valley Fire Protection District.
