Greeley Second Alarm

On January 26th, 2022 at approximately 11:30 Greeley Fire Department was dispatched by the Weld County Regional Communications Center to a vehicle fire at the 300 block of 16th St. Further information advised an tanker on fire next to a building. As crews went en-route they immediately saw a large column of black smoke coming from the dispatched location and the call was upgraded to a first alarm structure fire. First arriving Engine 1 sized up a single-story commercial building with defensive fire conditions. Battalion Chief 1 struck a second alarm based on the on-scene report. As companies arrived they immediately went to work securing multiple water supplies and setting up several master stream devices to control the fire. Based on the large amount of flammable liquids involved in the fire a full regional Haz-Mat response was requested to assist with containment of runoff. Crews were able to contain the fire to the property of origin. Haz-Mat crews mitigated the runoff into any areas of concern. Mutual-aid companies from Evans Fire Protection District and  Windsor Severance Fire Rescue assisted with district coverage. Off-Duty GFD personnel were recalled and staffed three reserve apparatus.
