Community Pancake Breakfast

On November 19th, 2022, Lyons Fire Protection District held a pancake breakfast and engine roll-in ceremony at Station 1 in Lyons. Community members were invited to enjoy a breakfast with firefighters and attend the new engine’s roll-in ceremony and silent auction. After breakfast was served, the roll-in ceremony was officiated by Fire Chief Peter Zick. The new Engine 4001, a 2022 Rosenbauer Commander replaces the current 1997 Smeal. The old Engine will be transferred over to Station 2 as Engine 4002. New Engine 4001 is a step for the new era of Lyons Fire Protection District, proudly wearing the new logo and motto. The new Engine 4001 is dedicated to Firefighter / EMT Griffin “Griff” Ferguson who passed away on May 26th, 2022. The Ferguson family unveiled the memorial that is on the new engine after an emotional speech from Chief Zick. The current engine will be staying in service until the new engine is fully completed around December 15th, 2022. Representatives from Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, Estes Valley Fire Protection District, Hygiene Fire Protection District, Lefthand Fire Protection District, and others also attended the event.
