Merino Grass Fire

At 12:25 on May 8th, 2022 Merino Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched with Hillrose-Snyder Volunteer Fire Department to a grass fire in the 200 block of Logan County Road 15.5 that was reported as growing rapidly with structures threatened. Merino Fire requested mutual-aid from Sterling Fire Protection District for a grass unit as well as Aero Applicators for a SEAT. Units arrived on scene to find a small grass fire and began attack. They quickly extinguished the fire and mop up was completed. No damage to any structures or any injuries were reported. The grass fire was contained to only a few acres.
