Thornton Vegetation Fire

On April 8th, 2022 at 13:50 Thornton Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire in the 12500 block of Holly St. and Thornton Communications Center advised that reports were fire was south of the Shadow Ridge Middle School. Brush 76 reported that heavy black smoke showing from Station 6 and requested to tone out an additional engine and brush. Brush 76 arrived to about 1/2-acre brush fire and started fast attack with Engine 76. Engine 73 arrived and secured the water supply and progressive hose pack to Brush 74. Battalion 71 arrived and requested to dispatch for additional resources to the scene for structure protection south of the fire off E. 123rd Court by the open space. Truck 74 arrived and started structure protection south of the fire and secured a water supply. The fire was contained at 14:29 and crews started mop up on hot spots. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
