Wildland Training & Prescribed Burn

West Metro Fire Rescue conducted a wildland fire investigation training class and prescribed burn at Bear Creek Lake Park on September 28th, 2022. Firefighters set several small fires using various ignition sources so the class could investigate and try to determine cause and origin. The crews then conducted a prescribed burn southwest of Bear Creek Lake. Firefighters from West Metro, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Evergreen Fire Rescue, Foothills Fire Protection District, Genesee Fire Protection District, Golden Fire Department, South Metro Fire Rescue and Park Rangers from Lakewood and Jefferson County Open Space participated in the prescribed burn.
