Wheat Ridge I-70 Fatal Accident

On July 4th, 2022 at 15:24 Arvada Fire Protection District and Fairmount Fire Protection District was alerted of a possible rollover accident on I-70 at eastbound Kipling St. in Wheat Ridge. Jeffcom received several 911 calls reporting multiple vehicles involved and one vehicle on the I-70 Service Rd. by the Apple Inn possibly on fire. Rescue 52 arrived to two vehicles with heavy damage and requested additional medic. The initial investigation shows the Jeep appeared to clip a sedan while both vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-70 causing the Jeep to roll. The driver of one of the vehicles was transported to a nearby hospital, and was pronounced deceased at hospital. A passenger in same vehicle was also transferred to a nearby hospital with injuries. The people in the second vehicle were not injured. I-70 was closed eastbound from Ward Rd. to Kipling St. Additional information provided by Wheat Ridge Police Department
