Aurora Structure Fire

On April 12th, 2023 at approximately 16:25 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 18737 E. Hawaii Drive. Engine 9 reported a dark plume of smoke as they approached and found heavy fire on the rear of the single-family home. Engine 9 removed a portion of the back fence and began fire attack from the rear while Engine 15 advanced another line from the front. Crews spent about an hour extinguishing the fire, mopping up hot spots, ventilating the building and conducting overhaul. The residence sustained heavy damage and the American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants and two dogs. One person was treated at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
