Mountain View Structure Fire

On April 11th, 2023 at 08:16 Boulder County Communications dispatched Mountain View Fire Rescue to reported structure fire in the 1800 block of Marlowe Circle in the Morgan Hill neighborhood in Erie. Truck 2216 arrived on scene to a two-story small residential structure with nothing showing and started the investigation. Firefighters entered the home and found light smoke showing, searched both the first floor and the basement looking for the source of the light smoke which turned out to be in the secondary garage. Truck 2216 pulled a line in and requested to requested to Fill The Box. Battalion 2260 arrived and assumed command. Engine 2208 arrived and secured the water supply to Truck 2216. A hybrid Jeep was located in one of the garages and smoking and when crews started putting water on the vehicle, there was a small explosion. As the garage door was blown off its tracks, it just missed a Mountain View Fire Rescue Captain as it flew about 30 feet into the yard. No firefighters were injured in the blast. Remarkably the home sustained only very minor damage as a result of the vehicle fire and minor explosion. Investigators are working the case and will be inspecting the electrical system and the vehicle in full detail.
