On August 22nd, 2023 at 22:07 West Metro Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue responded on a reported structure fire on Sand Cherry near White Oak Drive in Ken Caryl Valley. JeffCom received 911 call reporting smoke and flames showing from the home. Engine 13 arrived to a working fire from a two-story single-family residential and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire control in the offensive strategy and secured their own water supply. Truck 14 started the primary search and Medic 13 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 13 to the front door. District 2 arrived and assumed command and assigned Medic 12 as medical. A partial collapse of the first floor and firefighters backed out of the structure. The fire was put under control and crews started overhaul. The home was under remodeling and the owners were not there. There was extensive damage and the cause and origin is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
