South Metro Structure Fire

On September 20th, 2023 at approximately 22:15 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 20581 E. Mansfield Ave. Dispatched advised responding units that the homeowner was attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose and thought that it was out. Engine 23 arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the eaves. The fire, which originated on the front porch, spread up the side of the house into the attic. Crews were on scene about an hour extinguishing the fire, checking for extension and ventilating the building. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
