South Metro Commercial Fire

On October 19th, 2023 at approximately 16:35 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at 7955 S. Potomac St. Safety 35 arrived on scene and observed black smoke coming from the roof of a large commercial warehouse. Firefighters found fire in the ceiling insulation. Crews were on scene about an hour extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul. One civilian was examined at the scene and refused transport. The fire was caused by welders working in the building and determined to be accidental.
