Strasburg East 96th Ave Barn Fire
Strasburg Barn Fire
At 06:19 August 21st, 2023 Strasburg Fire Protection District and Byers Fire Protection District were dispatched to an outside fire investigation in the area of E. 96th Ave. and Defoe St. in Strasburg. Additional information was then received that a barn was on fire so the incident was upgraded to an I-70 corridor structure fire response. First arriving units sized up a 60×30 barn/workshop fully involved with a wildland involvement exposure issue. Chief 71 assumed command in a defensive strategy and a second TAC channel was requested for tender operations. Multiple attack lines were deployed with an initial knock on the fire reported at 07:03. Due to the collapse of the roof interior access was very limited. A total of seven tenders were utilized and extensive overhaul was needed to fully contain hot spots with units remaining on scene until 10:30. The origin and cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Additional information provided by Strasburg Fire Protection District
