West Metro Garage Fire

On July 21st, 2023 at 18:26 Jeffcom 911 dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District to a reported structure fire in the 10200 block of W. 34th Place in Wheat Ridge. Engine 2 arrived on scene to a small single-story single-family residential with a well involved working garage fire and pulled a 2 1/2 for exterior offensive fire attack. Engine 17 arrived and assisted with fire attack. Medic 17 and Medic 5 assisted with fire attack and pulled a line inside the structure and Engine 16 established the water supply to Engine 17. Tower 2 started the primary search and crews rescued one family dog. District 1 arrived and assumed command and assigned Tower 8 with secondary search and Medic 16 as medical group. The fire was contained to the garage, but caused extensive damage. The cause is under investigation and no injuries were reported. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
